Robin, I’m not sure I’m going to say anything especially insightful, but… I think you could get many different responses to the prior article based on the background/personal beliefs/religious beliefs/hypocrisy (and more I’m sure) of the reader.

I was raised by European immigrants and I always was amazed at the contrast between the attitudes of my parents, where nudity was simply a part of life, and second nature, when most of my friend’s parents would shame, or berate the kid if there was any magazine or film that showed any skin that wasn’t tan. One neighborhood couple had a huge fight when the wife found out that there was a Playboy Magazine at the husband’s work site brought in by a co-worker.

It’s a complex issue compounded by many factors and many attitudes. I don’t think it can be simplified or summed up into a few generalities.

It’s best to work with someone who has like-minded goals and limits. It’s crucial to be respectful of other’s limits. Communication should be the rule from the start.

Life is complex for most everyone. Mix two or more people, and the complexities only multiply, though at times the rewards of the mixture can dwarf even the complexities.

If anyone ever really figures it all out, they deserve a Nobel Prize!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and the thoughts of others. They are always worth a listen.
